What Causes Facial Veins?
There are several factors that can contribute to the formation of spider veins. These include pregnancy, genetics, age, sun damage, hormones, being overweight, and excess facial pressure from coughing or sneezing. They are also caused by small blood vessels that burst. These appear as blue, red or purple and take the form of fine lines or a spider web. They are not usually painful but can look unsightly. Those who have them want them removed for cosmetic reasons.
Who is a Good Candidate for Facial Vein Laser Removal?
Even though spider veins in the face are usually harmless, many choose to get them lasered off. In order to be considered for this procedure, however, you will first need to schedule a consultation. We’ll perform and initial examination of your skin and ask you about your medical history to determine if you’d make a good candidate. Patients undergoing the treatment should be in good physical health and have realistic expectations.

Pre-laser Procedure for Patients
stop taking blood thinners and other medications. This has to be done for 1 week prior and 1 week after the treatment. This is done to avoid excessive bleeding and bruising. You should not have any alcohol or smoke 2 days prior to and 2 days after the treatment. Eat a light meal before your treatment.
During the Laser Session
A cool tip is used to keep the treatment comfortable and laser light is used to heat the veins so that the collapsed wall and blood are absorbed by the body. Laser vein removal can also get rid of small angiomas, skin tags, and rosacea related issues. After the treatment, the blood vessel will fade and disappear. One to Six treatments may be necessary. Post-Treatment Care
You will have to apply cold packs to your face to cool the treated site. Use gauze pads soaked in cold water and set in a plastic bag to reduce the burning sensation and swelling. Take care while showering – use only lukewarm water. Use a sunblock when you go out. Recovery from laser treatment depends on the number of sessions you’ll need to attain your desired results. After laser treatment, your facial spider veins will change in color and disappear in about 4 weeks.
